Three Layer Chocolate Cake Recipe
What is the REcipe for Death by Chocolate?

I’ve already googled it and came up with nothing, i need to find one that is scrumptious and not flat like some cakes are but has a good two/three layers and a yummy topping xx



This is the recipe that I use- it’s a bit fiddly, but worth it when it’s finished!
8oz plain dark chocolate, cut into small pieces,
4oz unsalted butter,
1/4 pint milk,
8oz light muscovado sugar,
2tspn vanilla essence,
2eggs-separated,
1/4 pint soured cream,
8oz self raising flour,
1tspn baking powder.

Filling +topping,
4tbspns seedless raspberry jam,
4tbspns Brandy,
14 oz plain dark chocolate, cut into small pieces,
7oz unsalted butter,
1 quantity Chocolate ganache,
plain chocolate curls,to decorate.

Ganache:-enough for a nine inch cake.

8oz double cream.
melt these together over a low heat,pour into a bowl and leave to cool, then whisk until it holds its shape.

Preheat oven to 180C/350F/G4. grease and base line a 9 inch springform tin. Melt chocolate,butter and milk in a pan and stir until smooth, remove from heat and beat in sugar and vanilla-leave to cool slightly.
Beat egg yolks and cream in a bowl,then add to chocolate mixture til smooth.Sift flour and baking powder and fold in.
Whisk eggwhites until stiff. Stir in 2tbspns into the chocolate cake mixture to lighten it. Fold in the rest of the egg whites, using a metal spoon.
Scrape mixture into prepared tin and bake for about 45-55 mins or until firm to the touch. Cool in tin for 15 mins, then invert onto rack, remove tin and leave until cold.
Slice cake across middle into 3 even layers. Make the filling. In small pan warm the raspberry jam with 1tbspn Brandy, then brush over the cake layers,leave to set.
Place remaining Brandy in a pan with the chocolate and butter, heat gently,stirring until smooth, pour into a bowl and cool until it thickens.
Spread the bottom layer of the cake with half the chocolate filling, top 2nd layer-jam side up and spread the remaining filling.Top with final layer and press slightly.
Leave to set, then spred the top and sides with the ganache, decorate with chocolate curls and dust over with cocoa powder.

This cake is very rich, but Mmmmmm good! Serves 16-20, if they’re lucky,lol!

cooking a three layer basic yellow cake?

would like to have a basic recipe for a yellow cake and chocolate icing cooked from scratch



David’s Yellow Cake –

.INGREDIENTS
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups white sugar
8 egg yolks
3/4 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups cake flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

..DIRECTIONS
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 – 8 inch round pans. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

2.In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg yolks one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until incorporated. Pour batter into prepared pans.

3.Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until tops spring back when lightly tapped. Cool 15 minutes before turning out onto cooling racks.

Easy Chocolate Bundt Cake Glaze –

.INGREDIENTS
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

..DIRECTIONS
1.In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips. Cook, stirring constantly, until the chips are melted and the mixture is smooth. Do not allow it to bubble. Remove from the heat and stir in vanilla. Cool slightly before drizzling over a cake. If you want to make this ahead, it can be cooled and reheated in the microwave.
