Chicken And Rice Crock Pot
When cooking rice in a crock pot, when do you put it in?
I would like to make a chicken and rice crock pot meal, however I’m unsure as to how long it’s okay to cook rice in a crock pot. Do I put it in at the beginning and cook the full 5-6 hours, or should I put it in half way through cooking or nearer the end? I don’t want it to be too mushy.

Perfect Rice – Crockpot
crockpot, vegetables
1.00 cup rice
1 salt
2.00 cup water
1 butter or margarine
Follow directions on rice package for proportion of rice to water. (Up to 4 cups raw rice may be prepared in CROCK- POT-makes 10 cups cooked). Rub CROCK-POT lightly with 1 tablespoon butter or margarine. Pour in rice, water and salt. Cover and cook on High 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. NOTE: When turned off, CROCK-POT will keep rice warm for serving for 2 to 3 hours! To “cook all day” ( Low: 8 to 10 hours) use 2 to 3 cups long grain converted rice, 4 to 6 cups water or broth, 2 table- spoons butter or margarine. Salt to taste before serving. Can I cook Chinese food in a crock pot?
I do most all of my cooking in a crock pot and I am searching for some Chinese recipes.
The deal is I am a beginner cook, so recipes must be SIMPLE.
I know rice is essential in Chinese cooking but I don’t know how to prepare it. Can rice be cooked in a slow cooker?
I like General Tso’s chicken best, but any rice/chicken,beef combo would do.
Any advice will be welcome.
Thanks
I looked up the slow cooker in the wikipedia. I think the slow cooker is just what we use to prepare the rice in China. What we use is a cooker designed for rice. When the water is absorbed by the rice, the cooker will turn from heating to keeping-hot. If the slow cooker is one of these, then it can be used for rice preparation.
