Father-in-Law wants Chocolate Raspberry cake for his Birthday?
My father-in-law’s birthday is coming up and I know that he loves chocolate and raspberry stuff together so I found a great recipe for a home made fudge cake but I don’t know how to incorporate the raspberry part. I want a filling to go between the layers and something to “ice” the cake with but I just don’t know the perfect combination would be. I really don’t want it to be to sweet or unbearably rich. Should I do a raspberry ganache, fresh raspberries, or a jam for the filling? And for the “icing” maybe a whipped cream with a hint of fresh raspberry juice or raspberry buttercream…I don’t know. Any other suggestions are welcome those are just a few ideas I had in my head. Thanks to anyone who helps me out.
I would balance out the cake with the fillings. If you go with a richer fudge, then use less sweetness in the filling (a ganache or fresh raspberries and a whipped cream top coat). if you use a less rich Cake mixture, then you can sweeten it up with the Jam or Ganache an top with Whipped cream and fesh fruit to balance off the sugar from the jam.
If you go with a chocolate cake, and want to use the jam, as a filling layer, then heat it a bit to make it more spreadable. whipped cream frosting with fresh raspberries would make it very presentable and pleasing to the eye.
